New Scheduled Task MP for free

Progel (once again the company I work for) decided to give away for free a MP Fabrizio developed with a little help from me.

This one addresses the monitoring of windows scheduled tasks covering Windows 2000, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008. It is a very focused MPs family that implements a single monitor and a few tasks with the aim of reporting on failed and only failed scheduled tasks. Compared to the community one you can get on SystemCenterCentral this one is quieter (implementing less monitors, filtering from discovery disabled tasks and in general trying to keep alerting to a minimum) and covers Windows 2000. On the design perspective we use the native Win32 API avoiding any output parsing and translation, in this respect the MP should work on any OS locale even if it is delivered only in English. Just to be clear the SystemCenterCentral MP is good, we just have different monitoring needs, so it’s really a matter of what’s better for your environment.

The MP has been deployed as of today on 350 agents discovering more than 1,000 scheduled tasks.

The MP is free, the support is not, but I don’t anticipate any need for, once again the MP is really simple.

You can get the MP here: Progel Windows Scheduled Tasks Management Pack.

Any feedback is truly appreciated.
