Cluster CSV disk monitoring with #scom #sysctr

The standard cluster disk monitoring management pack falls short on monitoring cluster disks and cluster shared volumes (CSV). I wrote on the topic a while ago (The new OS management pack and cluster disks) and it was time to add some more contents to the previsou management pack.

In my previous post I wrote I didn’t find a away to collect CSV performances I was, with every evidence, blind. In fact there’s a specific object to monitor CSV performance “Cluster CSV File System”. So, in this installment I developed a new version of the management pack to add CSV performance collection and monitoring, to do this I had to extend the CSV class to add the simple volume name, used to address the specific performance monitoring instances.

The management implements the following collections and monitors:

  • Cluster Disk – Monitor – Disk latency
  • Cluster Disk – Collection- Overall disk response time (sec/transfer)
  • Cluster Disk – Collection- Disk reads per second
  • Cluster Disk – Collection – Disk writes per second
  • Cluster Disk – Collection – Free MB
  • Cluster Disk – Collection – Free space %
  • CSV – Monitor – Disk Read Latency
  • CSV – Monitor – Disk Write Latency
  • CSV – Monitor – Disk Redirected Read Latency
  • CSV – Monitor – Disk Redirected Write Latency
  • CSV – Collection – Disk Read Latency
  • CSV – Collection – Disk Write Latency
  • CSV – Collection – Disk Reads per second
  • CSV – Collection – Disk writes per second
  • CSV – Collection – Disk Redirected Read Latency
  • CSV – Collection – Disk Redirected  Write Latency
  • CSV – Collection – Disk Redirected  Reads per second
  • CSV – Collection – Disk Redirected writes per second

The new management pack can be found here.

Thank’s for updated version, i also started to create my version for updated windows os mp, but you have released newer version before me, i only miss in your version of MP additional views that are missing for cluster and CSV disks. Do u have VSAE project for this mp so i can easly add missing things?

There seems to be a problem with the signing of the MP. ” This assembly is not fully signed. Cannot verify the strong name signature of the file”

this first copy of the signed MP had this issue, but I corrected it. Maybe it’s a matter of technet gallery replication. Try again in a couple of hours and let me know.

      Thx
