#Azure and #MSOMS notable updates w1-17

Having reported the new management packs for SCOM in the previous bulletin, this has been a relatively quiet week.

T-SQL continues to improve in SQL Azure Databases with new T-SQL string functions
Speaking of SQL Databases, write and read performances have been doubled at no additional cost for customers. Well done! This also means that, in general, if your Premium workload is below 50% DTU utilization now, you may be able to run in the next lower Premium performance level.

Azure storage APIs improvements, larger blocks, incremental copy, new REST API 2016-05-31 and new client libraries 8.0.1

Azure Security center now supports (fully) Windows Server 2016

We can finally set the retention for an OMS workspace from the Azure Portal, just step to your Log Analytics blade and select retention. Please remember that every additional day is going to add on your costs.
