#Azure and #MSOMS notable updates w6-17

Top news of the week is the release of managed disks, I’m going to write a specific post on them. In the meantime: Announcing general availability of Managed Disks and larger Scale Sets

Networking continues to improve, now we can have multiple IP addresses per NIC (up to 250) and we can load balance across NICs:
“Azure virtual machines can have one or more network interfaces. Each of these network interfaces can now have up to 250 IP addresses associated with it, enabling new capabilities listed in the documentation for assigning multiple IP addresses by using PowerShell. In addition, primary and secondary network interfaces can now be used for load balancing.”
Basically now we can mix and match IP addresses on NICs objects. The feature is in preview and must be explicitly enabled:

Register-AzureRmProviderFeature -FeatureName AllowMultipleIpConfigurationsPerNic -ProviderNamespace Microsoft.Network
 Register-AzureRmProviderFeature -FeatureName AllowLoadBalancingonSecondaryIpconfigs -ProviderNamespace Microsoft.Network

Azure AD now provides (preview) a NPS extension to bring AAD authentication and MFA to your on-premises VPNs

The OMS team has been strangely quite in the last few weeks, I can’t wait to see what’s in the oven. In the mean time they announced Instant File Recovery from Cloud using Azure Backup

System Center

Management pack are being released at a steady pace.
For SCOM 2016:

  • Microsoft System Center 2016 Management Pack for Microsoft Azure

  • Microsoft System Center 2016 Management Pack for Windows Storage Spaces Direct

In general:
