#Azure notable updates week 4/19

Microsoft tackles Amazon database platform with the new GA capabilities in Azure Database Migration Services:

  • support for online migration Amazon RDS to Azure SQL DBs
  • support for online migration of Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL to Azure Database for PostgreSQL
  • support for online migration of Amazon RDS for MySQL to Azure Database for MySQL

On the subject, same-region read replicas are now in public preview for
Azure Database for PostgreSQL, and the story continues with the acquisition of Citus Data by Microsoft. From what I read Citus Data transforms PostgreSQL in a distributed databases thus scalability dramatically improves (or so they say).

Azure Backup support for powershell cmdlet and NTFS ACLs in Azure Files is in public preview.

Azure Security Center continues its journey at giant leaps, with the new regulatory compliance (Azure CIS, PCI DSS 3.2, ISO 27001, and SOC TSP) dashboard now in public preview.

Azure API management adds support for OpenAPI v3 in public preview. Basically building on the standard based approach and adopting the latest version of this opensource standard.

Service Bus and Event Hubs Availability Zones now generally available
