#Azure Notable updates week 48/19

New metrics are now available to monitor Azure SQL Database backup storage consumption in the general purpose and business-critical service tiers:

  • Full backup
  • Differential backup
  • Log backup

Azure Migrate now allows to manually add servers to be assessed through a CSV file.

Azure HDInsight now supports the use of service tags to simplify inbound network security group (NSG) rule management

Dedicated Host is set to replace isolated Azure VMs. This will start to happen on February 15th, 2020 with some isolated VMs families. If you’re using isolated VMs it’s better to start planning for a migration to dedicated host, if you still require hardware isolation.

Data Lake Storage Blob API is now generally available, now the integration with Data Lake is easier for all the services that are able to access blob storage. The service was in preview and now it is fully supported.
